We are able to see domestic animals - dogs, cats, and exotics.
The Appointment
Due to the medications used during the procedure, the process is painless, peaceful and anxiety free.
You can read more about the procedure here: WHAT TO EXPECT
If possible, we encourage other pets to be present. Often, other pets understand far more than we give them credit for - they tend to already be aware of the condition that is robbing your pet of wellness, and you may notice that they have already adjusted their behavior towards them.
After the passing, there is a short period where your other pets may investigate and then quickly move away. By allowing them to be present, they will understand that their friend has passed, will achieve closure, and mourn in their own way. Their recovery will be quicker because they will not be needlessly searching for their lost pack mate.
During the appointment, dogs tend to settle down - observant, but not in the way. Some dogs want more attention at this time, but we can help soothe them - your focus should be on your baby.
Cats are either aloof or very involved, although most watch from afar. They are very interested but are also very intuitive and may or may not investigate after the passing. Don’t worry, they know what has happened and tend to achieve closure faster than most dogs.
After Care
Private Cremation
Your pet is cremated individually in its own specially prepared pet cremation chamber and its cremains are returned to you in an engraved, cherry wood box urn unless you have selected a different specialized urn.
Distinctive and Bold
With this selection, your pet is cremated along with others. The cremains are not returned but instead are gently scattered at the Pet Meadow Memorial Park.
Many families will also choose memento items like basic ink, clay, framed paw prints, jewelry, or urns which can be ordered from Pet Meadow.
Burying a pet at home is very natural and helps many through the bereavement process and to achieve closure. There may be city and county codes that must be adhered to for pet burials. Check with your township or municipality for guidelines and rules. Once that is cleared and you have selected a site on your property, preparing the site is next. The depth of the burial site is very essential. The site should be at least 2 to 3 feet deep to prevent other animals from disturbing your pet and stop the freeze/thaw cycle from unearthing them. Many people will plant a flowering bush or place a grave marker over their pet.
